    Before We Start

    Get the cohort project, database, Claude setup, Discord access, office hours, and repo workflow ready so you can follow the exercises safely from day one.

    This section gets you ready for the cohort before the heavier engineering work starts. You will see where the course is headed, get into the Discord, set up the project repo, and learn the workflow we use for exercises, office hours, and updates.

    What you will do

    • Get the big picture for AI Coding for Real Engineers
    • Join the Discord and find the cohort channels
    • Clone and run the course project locally
    • Run the database setup and migrations
    • Configure Claude Code for the course
    • Learn the reset, cherry-pick, and pull workflow for exercises
    • Find the office hours schedule and recordings

    Schedule

    Before We Start is available from the beginning of the cohort. Use it as your setup checklist before you start the Week 1 lessons.

    Week 1 opens on Monday, June 1. Week 2 opens on Monday, June 8. You can work through the lessons at your own pace and bring questions to office hours.
